Suite à la coupe de plusieurs budgets lors du tournage, entre autres au Japon, le film a été poussé à être terminé rapidement dû à la déclaration de pandémie mondiale. J'ai été mandaté à minuit moins une pour créer un logo illustré pour habiller la vidéo. L'idée était de représenter le manque de temps, le stress et la pression de terminer un film avec une saison et un budget coupé soudainement.
Following the cutting of several budgets during the filming, among others in Japan, the film was pushed to be finished quickly due to the declaration of a global pandemic. The idea behind the illustration was to represent the lack of time, stress and pressure of finishing a movie with a season and suddenly cut budget.
The season started with one goal in mind: Make a top-notch snowboard film. Little did Sébastien Toutant and friends know, they were going to get cut short.
Un des éléments les plus importants du visuel était d'incorporer l'idée du stress et du mouvement relié à la situation mondiale et à la nature du film. J'ai voulu incorporer l'idée d'un réveil-matin dans le visuel du personnage, à l'image des athlètes présents dans le films, d'où les quatre yeux en forme de 0, ainsi que les cloches sous la tuques qui font comme si le compte à rebours était terminé. La typographie réalisée suit l'esprit du mouvement saccadée, inspiré de bandes-dessinées de l'époque.
One of the most important visual concepts was to incorporate the idea of stress and movement related to the world situation and the nature of the film. I wanted to incorporate the idea of an alarm clock in the visual of the character, similar to the athletes showcased in the film, hence the four 0-shaped eyes, as well as the bells under the hat that shows in a subtle way that the countdown is over. The typography follows the same idea of stressed movement, inspired from old cartoons.
